This cable converts the twin original antenna connectors in the car, known as fakra connectors, to a standard aftermarket antenna connector, known as a DIN connector.

The adapter cable has a built in module which provides a phantom power feed to the original antenna in the car. A phantom power feed is a 12v power supply that is sent up the centre wire of the antenna cable, this powers the amplifier built into the original antenna. The antenna adapter cable has a loose wire which needs to be connected to the 12v antenna power output of the new aftermarket stereo.

The phantom power feed terminates in a junior timer receptacle terminal to make it easy to connect into the electric antenna turn on position of a standard ISO connector. We also have this part available with a male bullet connector to make the phantom power lead easier to connect to ISO cables and steering wheel control interfaces with a female bullet connection for the electric antenna turn on, the 21-128K.

What is the loose Blue wire for?

Connect the crimp connector (on the blue wire) to the blue antenna turn on wire, or the blue/white remote turn on wire coming from the new aftermarket radio harness.

If neither of these are available then you will need to cut off the crimp connector and splice the wire into the Blue or Blue/white on the radio harness. Use a T Tap style connector or solder the wires together.

Trouble shooting

I have poor FM reception

Check that the adapter is securely connected to the original ISO connection in the car, they can come apart if they get caught when installing the new radio into the dashboard.

I have no sound

Some cars also need the remote turn on wire for waking up an original amplifier. If there is no sound then make sure that the remote on is connected through to the car as well as to the bullet connection.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have needed to make your own connection for the remote turn on wire then make sure that the connection is secure and that 12v is output when the radio is on.
